Fittings & essentials for bath and kitchen

Ideal.

About Ideal

Two rooms decide how a home feels to live in. We only work on those two.

The workshop principle:
touch it before you trust it.

Ideal began with a simple irritation: fittings that photographed beautifully and failed quietly. A handle that loosened by month three. A finish that clouded the first time it met a scouring pad. The gap between how products looked in a catalogue and how they behaved at a kitchen sink.

So we became selective on purpose. Rather than stocking everything, we test for the unglamorous things — valve feel, thread quality, coating depth, the sound a drawer of cutlery makes when it closes. What passes goes in the range. What doesn't, doesn't, no matter how good the margin.

Today the catalogue spans the working heart of the bathroom and kitchen: taps and mixers, sinks and basins, showers, and the hardware that holds it all together. Every piece answers the same brief — look considered, work daily, age well.

How we choose

The selection test

01/

The hand test

Weight, balance, action. A mixer lever should move like a well-made door handle — with just enough resistance to feel deliberate.

02/

The year test

Finishes are assessed for how they age: water marks, cleaning chemicals, sunlight. Patina is welcome; peeling is not.

03/

The fitter test

If an experienced installer sighs when they open the box, the product fails. Standard threads, honest dimensions, complete kits.

“Nobody remembers the day they bought a tap. Everybody remembers the years it worked without a thought.
